founded in 1927
I was born in Southgate, North London, and lived in Egypt, Germany and
Cyprus as a child. In the seventies I trained as a teacher with ceramics as my specialist subject. I moved to Cornwall in 1988, where I joined the printmaking class at the Penwith College Art School. I began exhibiting my etchings and monoprints with the Penwith Printmakers, and we now exhibit annually at the Mariners Gallery in St. Ives.
The moorland of Penwith is my main source of inspiration and I like to include animals that I see on my walks with the dog.
I find monoprinting an excellent way of expressing images and ideas quickly. Painting onto a plate and making adjustments before the ink can dry is always a challenge. When the plate is printed the image and the colours will change. This transformation will always surprise and may be pleasing.
