Sculpture Open Exhibition 2007

Dear Sculptor 

Many thanks for your recent enquiry about the forthcoming Open Sculpture Exhibition. This is the first time that the Society has held such a show and we are very much looking forward to mounting an exciting and inspiring show.  Please read the notes below and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.

Last day for entry forms to be returned: 15^th June 2008

Handing in day – 13^th August 10am -4.00pm 

Selection will be made by Simon Thomas and Jesse Leroy Smith

Application should be by photograph of the actual work being submitted. If you feel that it is appropriate to submit more than one image of your work, please do so. This will be acceptable. Please try and show the scale of the work. Applicants may submit images of up to three works.

The work to be included in the Exhibition will be chosen by the curator/artists Simon Thomas and Jesse Leroy Smith.  No correspondence will be entered into concerning their decision. 

Selected work should be delivered to the Members’ Gallery between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Wednesday 13^th August.   

Please note:
Access to the gallery is limited. There is a small no through lane outside the front door which a small van may negotiate and stop outside to unload but cannot remain parked there for any length of time.

There are 5 steps to the door with a rise of 6cm and depth of 35cm.

The gallery entrance is in the form of a gothic arch with a maximum height of 2.5m, the maximum width is 92cm at a height of 1.36m narrowing to 73cm at 1.8m and narrowing to the apex above that.

Work may be assembled on site but please state if this will be the case on the entry form.

A limited number of display plinths are available so please state on the entry form if you would require one and the approx size.

Any 1 piece of work must not weigh more than half a ton.

A commission of 35% is charged on all sales.   This commission must be accounted for by artists when calculating the selling price.    

The selection of work will take place in June and entrants will be informed of the outcome at the beginning of July. If you could include your email address it will speed up the notification process but is not essential. If you would like your images returned please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
