I have recently moved to St Columb Major from St Just near Lands End, where I lived for 30 years. The environment where I now find myself is very different from the wild and windswept coast near Cape Cornwall. I am enjoying exploring the coastline, finding glorious beaches and mysterious caves. The wooded valley where I now live is sheltered and rich in wildlife; owls hoot at night, foxes and badgers are frequent visitors. There is a different kind of magic here that I am beginning to tap into in my work.
A recent project was to illustrate a book Between the Ocean and The Sky and I acknowledge the illustrative nature of many of my paintings. I like my images to draw you in ..to tell a story. It may be a different story from my own, but that is fine, so long as the image speaks to you and touches you.
I have a studio adjacent to my home, The Lanherne Studio which I share with my partner, painter, Tom Henderson Smith and my work can be seen there, by appointment and at St Ives Society where I exhibit on a regular basis.
